Common marmosets are small, omnivorous monkeys that typically live in groups. Their gestation period is about 144 days, and they usually give birth to twins. They are arboreal animals, spending most of their time in trees. Their diet includes insects, small lizards, fruits, and bird eggs. They also feed on fruits, insects, and tree sap, making them important in nature for seed dispersal and pest control.
Common marmosets are originally found only in the northeastern regions of Brazil. However, due to increasing environmental destruction, they are now mostly found in the southeastern coastal rainforests of Brazil. They have white tufts of fur around their ears and on their foreheads, while the hair on their head is dark brown. Their back fur is grayish-brown with pale whitish stripes, and their tails also have distinct horizontal stripes.
