The Glossy Ibis is a medium-sized wading bird known for its striking iridescent plumage that shines with green, purple, and bronze colors in sunlight.Visitors can observe and study the flock of Glossy Ibises up close at Yadanabon Zoo.
A clever elephant called Yadanar Shwe had been captured near the trail of the elephant herd passing into the forest where it is located at the Za-Yat-Kwin village in Tha-Pate-Kyin township. Although since she was entered to Yadanabon Zoo at the age of calf, now she is at the age 22 years.
A rare and adorable mammal that spends most of its time in trees and mainly eats bamboo.They also eat fruits, berries, and small insects. In the wild, they can live for about 8 to 10 years, while in protected environments they can survive up to around 15 years.At the Yadanarpon Zoological Garden, one male red panda and three female red pandas are being cared for and kept under conservation and breeding programs.
Common marmosets are small, omnivorous monkeys that typically live in groups. Their gestation period is about 144 days, and they usually give birth to twins. They are arboreal animals, spending most of their time in trees. Their diet includes insects, small lizards, fruits, and bird eggs. They also feed on fruits, insects, and tree sap, making them important in nature for seed dispersal and pest control.
It is omnivorous and feeds on fruits, invertebrates, small vertebrates, and insects. The egg incubation period lasts about 3–4 months, and it lays 10–25 eggs at a time. In the wild, it can live for about 30–40 years, while in captivity it may live up to around 50 years.It plays an important role in the ecosystem as both a seed disperser and a consumer of small plants. However, its population is declining due to illegal wildlife trade, habitat destruction, hunting for food, and capture for traditional medicine preparation.
